If you have hamsters as your pet then you are the luckiest person because they are really cute, carefree, adorable and they do not even require much attention. You just need to care about one thing that they are getting the right amount of diet in the perfect amounts and also that they enjoy what they eat.
Can They Eat Raspberries?
Yes, it would be okay for you to feed raspberry to your hamster once in a while as a treat. Raspberries are high in fibre content and low in sugar content which makes them the perfect fruit for you to feed your hamster.
Apart from fibre, they contain high amounts of vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E, calcium, manganese, potassium, and iron which makes it perfect for you to feed your hamsters. But make sure that they are fed in moderation because too much of any fruit can cause problems for them.
Why Should You Give Raspberries To Your Hamster?
The first reason why you should feed your rodents raspberries is that they are very delicious and contain many nutrients that are good for your hamster’s health when fed in moderation. The nutrients are vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E, calcium, iron, potassium, and manganese. Every nutrient in itself provides a lot of benefits to them.
Vitamin C for starters acts as an antioxidant which helps in fighting all the chronic illnesses or diseases that your pets might have and also helps in keeping the immune system strong.
Vitamin e is good for your hamster’s eyesight and also it helps in keeping the immune system strong. Vitamin e also helps in keeping any type of cancer away from your hamster.
Vitamin K is beneficial for bones and their proper metabolism also it helps in the proper regulation of calcium in the body. Further, it prevents blood clotting. Calcium helps in keeping the bones strong.
Iron helps in the boost of haemoglobin, manganese also is responsible for bone health, and at last, potassium is responsible for keeping the heart healthy by keeping the blood pressure of hamsters pretty low.
Why Shouldn’t You Give Raspberries To Your Hamster?
Well we have already told you that raspberries are good for your hamster but along with that we also told you that raspberries should be fed in moderation, so here is the reason why.
Raspberries have high acidic content in them which can cause diarrhoea and gastrointestinal issues in them.
Although the sugar content is not much of a problem but Syrian and Roborovski hamsters might have problems like diabetes and obesity in them. No dwarf hamster can handle sugar and acidity so my advice would be that you do not give them raspberries at all.
How To Feed Raspberries Properly?
It is only being told for giants like Syrian and Roborovski because raspberries should be only given to them.
When introducing raspberry to your hamster you should start slow by giving them only one raspberry.
Firstly, thoroughly wash the raspberry and in case you want to feed them with leaves see if there is any thorn present there. Remove it properly and carefully. Then feed it to your rodents.
